Your honeymoon is a great time to splurge on an exotic destination and resort. We have 3 Caribbean private island honeymoon resorts for you and we’ll give a few honorable mentions to resorts that have private islands offshore. All of these resorts make for a memorable all inclusive vacation, all inclusive honeymoon or all inclusive wedding.
Palm Islands Resort in the Grenadines
Located on it’s own private 100 acre island hideaway, this 43 room resort is perfect for couples looking to totally unplug. Fly into Barbados, from there you take a small plane to Union Island. From Union Island you take the resort’s ferry to the island. If you stay seven nights the resort will include the transfer from Barbados. We recommend you stay at least 7 nights.
Jumby Bay Resort
This Rosewood resort is located just 2 miles off the coast of Antigua on a 300-acre island. This property is a little easier to get to. Fly into Antigua and take resort’s water taxi. This resort is perfect for couples looking for luxury and seclusion. The resort has 40 rooms and suites that spread across approximately 1/3 of the island.
Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado
This private island resort is in the Dominican Republic, so you can get a real value here. The resort isn’t quite the luxury standard of our first 2 resorts, but it’s still an incredibly nice unique place to stay. With 201 rooms, the resort isn’t quite as intimate either. The big catch is getting there, so again we recommend you do at least 7 nights. JFK is the only US airport that has flights to Samana. Jet Blue flies on Wednesdays and Saturdays. From the Samana airport, the transfer is about 1.5 hours. The rest of the U.S. has to fly into Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo or Punta Cana. The transfers times are really long. This will also be an adults only all inclusive resort starting May 1, 2013.
If you have an all inclusive resort on a private island in the Caribbean and we did not mention you, please contact us.
Now for the honorable mention section. We have several resorts with private island just off the shore. So, the resort isn’t located on the private island, but the resort has a private island with facilities for you.
Last but not least, we have to comment on one of the coolest excursions we have to offer in the Caribbean. Stay at Sandals Emerald Bay and you can buy a private island day in the Exumas. You are taken out to a very secluded island that has 2 chairs and an umbrella. They drop you off with a picnic and a cooler of your favorite beverages. Spend the day, just the two of you, and they pick you up in the afternoon.
