1. How do we get to Couples Resorts?
First, fly into Montego Bay (MBJ). Do not fly into Kingston or you will have to pay about $200 per person for someone to take you on the 4 hour drive to Ocho rios or 5 hour drive to Negril. When you get to Montego Bay, go to baggage claim and retrieve your luggage. Then you’ll go through customs, which puts you in the transportation area. Look for the Couples Resorts welcome center. You cannot miss it. The Couples desk will give you a numbered luggage tag for each bag. Make sure each tag identifies your Couples resort. You might wait 5 to 20 minutes for all guests arriving at the same time as you, to clear customs and receive their tags. The Couples welcome lounge has comfy sofas, beer, water and soft drinks. They will then transport you via air-conditioned bus or van. Always verify that your luggage is on the vehicle before you get in. Travel time is usually from 60 minutes to 120 minutes depending on traffic and which resort. There are small aircraft that fly from Montego Bay to Negril and Ocho Rios. The cost is around $150 per person. This option won’t save you any time really, but the flight is a cool option for your journey.
2. What is the dress code at Couples Resorts?
The resorts are very casual by day. Shirts and shoes will be needed only when you eat at one of the restaurants. At night, resort chic or casual elegance is the norm with an emphasis on light and cool clothing. Most places are okay with guys in long shorts and collared shirts. Some restaurants require slacks for the men and oddly enough, closed toed shoes. I know this because I had a very angry client that couldn’t get in to the gourmet restaurant at Couples Swept Away one time. He was wearing $350 Italian leather Sandals that he bought for the trip and they would not seat him:(
3. What’s Included at Couples Resorts?
This is my favorite question to answer, because their all inclusive program is the best. Couples Resorts offer items you won’t receive at most all inclusive resorts. You get free golf, scuba diving, snorkeling boat trips and even trips to local bars like Margaritaville. Dunn’s River Falls tours are included at Couples Tower Isle and Couples Sans Souci. Couples Negril, Couples Swept Away and Tower Isle include sunset catamaran cruises.
