When it comes to the best beaches in Punta Cana, we look at this island a little differently, because Bavaro Beach is home to dozens of resorts, which all have a practically identical great beach. That can also be said for all the beach areas in Cap Cana, La Romana, Miches and Uvero Alto.

The beaches stretch forever and are beautifully lined with coconut palms.

So, here we're just going to give you our opinion of the best beach areas. We are beach lovers!

1. Cap Cana * top Caribbean beach, you can literally wade out 100 yards without your feet leaving the sand
2. Bavaro * top Caribbean beach, sugar white sand and turquoise water
3. La Romana, dreamy beaches everywhere, sugar white sand and turquoise water
4. Miches, our newest beach area is totally unspoiled on the north coast
5. Uvero Alto, the sand is more golden that white here and there's more surf, but still dreamy and you can walk for miles

* We have put an asterisk here because of the sargassum problem plaguing the Caribbean's east facing beaches the last couple of summers. If you are traveling May to September and spending time in the ocean is very important to you, please consider La Romana. This area is not affected.

Having said that, sargassum is an intermittent problem, not constant.
